Welcome to the new website of the Drainage Superintendents Association of Ontario (DSAO). Our main objective is helping the general public resolve their drainage concerns through the Ontario Drainage Act. This site may be of interest to anyone within the drainage industry or with an interest in municipal drainage works.

2014 LICO/DSAO Convention
The 2014 LICO/DSAO Convention will be held from January 21st to 23rd, 2014 at the Lamplighter Inn in London.

The Red Cross first aid course and a tour of Wolfe Heavy Equipment are also being offered during the Convention.
One change to note this year is the banquet which will be held on Wednesday night instead of Thursday night.

2014 Drainage Superintendents Course
The 2014 Drainage Superintendents Course will be held from March 1st to 7th, 2014 at the Ontario Government Building in Guelph.
The course will cover topics including common Law as it relates to drainage, the role and responsibilities of the engineer under the Drainage Act,
the process for developing new municipal drains and improving existing drains, municipal drain management, the roles, responsibilities and practical
aspects of the drainage superintendent and the environmental regulations that impact municipal drains. The course will be held at:

2014 Rural Drainage Courses
The 2014 Rural Drainage Courses are being offered by OMAF. These 2-day courses will cover topics including Drainage law in general, including the
common law as it relates to drainage, administrative procedures under the Drainage Act for new drains and the maintenance of existing drains, overview
of drainage assessments, collecting grants, the roles and responsibilities of council,clerk, treasurer and drainage superintendents under the Drainage

Updated distribution maps for fish and mussel species at risk
Updated distribution maps for fish and mussel species at risk in Ontario have been finalized and are currently posted on Conservation Ontario’s
website . These maps are valid for use until May 2014 and have been updated to include new data from Fisheries and Oceans, several Conservation
Authorities, Species at Risk permits and reco
These maps are proving to be a useful resource for integrating the Species at Risk Act (SARA) legislation into current referral review processes.
The maps were designed to assist Drainage Superintendents in the screening of projects for the presence of aquatic species at risk at proposed
development projects sites.
